Zimbabwe

Geography: Zimbabwe is dominated by a large plateau which drops down to the Zambezi valley in the west and down to the Limpopo valley in the south.  The capital, Harare, is in northern Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe shares borders with Mozambique, South Africa, Botswana and Zambia.

Climate: Zimbabwe is warm during the summer months (November to April) with afternoon thunderstorms and is cool and dry during the winter months (May to October).

Culture:  Shona, Ndebele and English are the three official languages spoken in Zimbabwe. The population is 80% Shona and 15% Ndebele. There is also a small white community of British, Portuguese and Dutch descent.

Currency: The Zimbabwe dollar is the national currency but currently the American dollar, South African rand and the Botswana pula are more widely accepted. ATMs are found in the large cities but are expensive to use.
